We are honored to see that our VR project „Stasiverhöre – Manipulierte Geständnisse“ has been selected for Deutscher Radiopreis!
At the beginning of this year, we published the VR experience in collaboration with Deutschlandfunk Kultur about interrogation methods by the former East German “intelligence”.
Deutschlandfunk Kultur broadcasted two radio features on this topic and now, this project has been nominated for Deutscher Radiopreis. The category for the nomination is Best Innovation which selects projects in which new forms of storytelling has been used creatively.
While working on this project, we witnessed two journalists, Jana Wuttke and Martin Hartwig, working relentlessly on finding compelling audios (they spent countless days in archives working through tapes), collaboratively writing the narrative for a new medium with us (VR is so much more than writing a radio script – think staging and designing) and working with us to create a VR project that allows users to immerse themselves into a room/situation they have (hopefully) never been in.
We believe our project is unique because in this immersive experience, the user gets an idea of what it was like to sit in an interrogation room – the room and original soundbites of an interrogation are anchors to this story and we are looking forward to seeing more projects like this coming from radio stations like Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
